A MESSAGE FROM THE ACTING
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Connections is back on schedule and I’ve got a special request for you this month: pass it on. Forward Connections to one other person that you think would benefit from the news and information in this edition, and you’ll help us double our circulation overnight! What’s in store inside our virtual pages?
Lower the lights, kick on some cool music, fire up the aromatherapy and get stuck by some needles. It’s all relaxing, even the needle part, according to Dr Joel Batzofin. Acupuncture and other holistic wellness programs are growing, as stress becomes harder to handle in this fast-paced society. He’ll share with you why those stress relief alternatives are so effective, and what’s unique about his Manhattan practice.
Also in this month’s Connections you’ll be able to take part in a study, conducted by an Alliant University college student. This is something unique to Connections, but Marissa Long’s study is on an issue certainly not unique to infertility. She takes a look at the levels of distress experienced by infertility patients with a high body mass index.
The Chicago-based co-author of Belated Baby, Kelly James-Enger, is back with another heartfelt story on her bout with infertility and decision to move on and adopt. It’s another one of her articles you don’t want to miss.
We’ve also been working hard to reinvigorate our discussion forums which will be hosted by Web Angels. Web Angels are the doctors and other professionals in the world of fertility who are volunteering their time to address your questions and concerns related to family building, reproductive health and fertility preservation. To visit our discussion forums click here. Our first forum will open August 4th! This is a great opportunity for you to get top-notch advice on issues which matter the most to you. A very special thank you goes out to all of our Web Angels for making this possible.
Finally, we need your help! AARP Television is working on a nationally syndicated special called My Generation. The upcoming episode deals with infertility. Producers are looking for a couple over 50 years old, who’s tried fertility treatment, but has been unsuccessful. If you’re that couple, or know someone who might be willing to help out, please e-mail TVDianeRoberts@aol.com.
Between editions stay connected by visiting our website – theafa.org. On our homepage you’ll find daily updates on fertility, reproductive health and family building. Coming soon…fresh, weekly articles in our already extensive library of fact sheets, including our first in Spanish!
Wishing all of you the very best,

Ken Mosesian, Acting Executive Director
